San Piero a Grado

The legend says that the church was built in the spot where Saint Peter disembarked... and the frescoes by Deodato Orlandi (early 14th century) depict the life of Saint Peter.

The current construction begun in the 10th century and was renovated in the late 11th-early 12th centuries. It has no façade but has apses on both sides.

The exterior is decorated by ceramic basins coming from Maiorca, Sicily or the Islamic world (the originals are in the Museo di San Matteo).
